It’s contest time!
In recognition of National Food Bank Week, UFCW Local 152 has decided to host its first ever Canned Food & Non-perishable Food Drive Contest in an attempt to give back to our local communities.
The holiday season serves as a reminder that many families must choose between paying bills and buying groceries, to say nothing of buying gifts for loved ones. Because of this, food banks are often a vital life source for struggling families in our communities across the nation. More than any other union, our members put food on the table for America’s families, and our union family is committed to working together to get rid of hunger in our local communities.
In order to do this, we need your help.
Contest
UFCW Local 152 members are invited to bring food items to a designated spot in their workplace or directly to the UFCW Local 152 office in Mays Landing, NJ from now until Friday, November 16th, 2018.
The store or facility who donates the most food items will win a pizza party for the Local 152 members of that facility! There will be one winner in each state (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland). Winners will be announced Monday, November 19th.
We will periodically post updates of the current standings on our Facebook page, so please check back often.
Food Items
The Food Bank has requested the following items:
- Canned: tuna, salmon, spam, chicken, and ham
- Shelf stable items (such as milk)
- Boxed: pasta, potatoes, rice, and cereal
- Boxed or canned: macaroni & cheese, chili, stews, meaty soups, fruits, and vegetables
- Plastic jars of peanut butter
ABSOLUTELY NO: glass, cellophane, bottled water, soda, or baby food.
