UFCW Local 152 Attends Ocean City City Council Meeting In Support of Cannabis

On Thursday, March 11th, UFCW Local 152 Union Representative Hugh Giordano attended a City Council meeting in Ocean City, New Jersey to voice the union’s support on behalf of the cannabis industry.

Since the people of New Jersey voted in favor of the New Jersey Marijuana Legalization Amendment in November 2020, “America’s Greatest Family Resort” has taken steps to ban all future cannabis sales in the city, including medical cannabis.

The meeting was later reported by Cape May County Herald, where he was mentioned:

Hugh Giordano, a representative from the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 152, agreed [with another speaker] that having a pharmacy, but not a dispensary, doesn’t make sense and implored the council to see the difference between medical and recreational use of the drug.

“As the labor union that represents cannabis workers from seed to sale – both adult-use and medical – I’m asking you to consider at least offering, as you have pharmacies in your town, sick people and dying people the opportunity to get their medicine from a pharmacy, from a medical dispensary, and also create good union jobs within Ocean City,” Giordano said.

UFCW Local 152 will continue to show up to meetings throughout the state to voice our support of industries that will provide New Jersey with good jobs and revenue.
