A New Era

Victoria Commons was recently purchased by Complete Care and now operates as Complete Care at Victoria Commons. Many times, when a facility is acquired by a new operator, they can require the union to negotiate a new collective bargaining agreement directly with them, even if there was a previous contract in place. After months of hard negotiations, on Tuesday, September 28th, members at Complete Care at Victoria Commons in North Cape May, New Jersey came together to accept their new union contract!

Contract

The contract with Complete Care maintained much of the previous agreement and preserves all members’ original dates of hire, meaning their seniority was not affected. The preservation of seniority was essential, as it guarantees all bidding and layoff rights, as well as ensures that those members accrue the same level of vacation, personal, and sick days.

All members received significant wage increases upon ratification and will continue to receive increases over the life of the three-year agreement. Affordable healthcare was negotiated with  Complete Care which includes health, dental, vision, life, and prescription plans. This was a huge win for our members, as the contract offered significant savings in bi-weekly medical insurance premiums.

Congratulations to our members and the Negotiating Committee! The committee included Director of Collective Bargaining Daniel Ross, Director of Field Services Peggy Kelly, and Union Representative Pete White.

UFCW Local 152 proudly represents about twenty members at Complete Care at Victoria Commons, a senior living community providing “high-quality services in the popular retirement town of North Cape May,” according to the company website. Local 152 members work as CNAs, dietary aides, activity aides, cooks, drivers, and more.
