2020 Irv R. String Scholarship Winners

Earlier this year, the Irv R. String Local 152 Scholarship Fund opened for members and their dependents to apply for college scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year. After careful deliberation by the Scholarship Committee, award winners were selected. Congratulations to our eight 2020 Irv R. String Local 152 Scholarship Fund winners and six merit award winners!

2020 Irv R. String Scholarship Winner Keely Arndt

KEELY ARNDT

Keely Arndt is a 2020 graduate of Caesar Rodney High School and is planning to attend East Stroudsburg University where she will study to become an athletic trainer. Keely has participated in cross country, indoor/outdoor track, and the Chinese club.  She has received various academic and athletic awards. She has also volunteered at the Chinese Immersion Camp. Her father, Daniel Arndt, is a UFCW Local 152 member at Kraft Foods.

 


 

2020 Irv R. String Scholarship Winner Adetomiwa Awogbamila

ADETOMIWA AWOGBAMILA

Adetomiwa Awogbamila is currently attending Rowan College of South Jersey where he is studying to become a civil engineer. He is part of the Rowan College Men’s Outdoor Track and Field team and also the Phi Theta Kappa National Honors Society. In the past, he has volunteered at the Spring of Hope Church’s Food Bank. Adetomiwa is a UFCW Local 152 member at Acme Markets in southern New Jersey.

 


 

2020 Irv R. String Scholarship Winner Elizabeth Buch

ELIZABETH BUCH

Elizabeth Buch is currently attending The College of New Jersey and is majoring in Early Childhood Deaf Education with a concentration in Sociology. She currently works for The College of New Jersey as a Community Advisor.  Elizabeth also volunteers at the Funny Farm Animal Rescue Sanctuary and also with TCNJ Deaf Hearing Connection Club.  Her father, Michael Buch, is a UFCW Local 152 member at Acme Markets in southern New Jersey.

 


 

2020 Irv R. String Scholarship Winner Eric Ibarra ERIC IBARRA

Eric Ibarra is a 2020 graduate of Ocean City High School and will be attending Boston University where he is majoring in Computational Biology.  Eric has participated in the high school marching band, stage crew, rowing team, Science Club, National Honor Society, and Key Club. He also works at Wesley Manor Nursing Home as a server and volunteers at his church.  His mother, Claudia Ibarra, is a UFCW Local 152 member at Cape Regional Medical Center.

 


 

2020 Irv R. String Scholarship Winner Kate Ibarra KATE IBARRA

Kate Ibarra is currently attending Liberty University for nursing and is planning on obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing to become a nurse practitioner specializing in pediatric neurology.  She has also volunteered at her church in the children’s ministry, at Novant Health and at Cape Regional Medical Center where she assisted with transporting and discharging patients. Her mother, Claudia Ibarra, is a UFCW Local 152 member at Cape Regional Medical Center.

 


 

2020 Irv R. String Scholarship Winner Breyon MosleyBREYON MOSLEY

Breyon Mosley is a 2020 graduate of Pennsauken High School and is planning to attend Rutgers University where he will major in Biology with a concentration in pre-med.  He plans on becoming an orthopedic surgeon.  Breyon has participated in varsity track and field all 4 years of high school.  He is also a companion for the elderly and a Jr. Trustee at his church.  His father, Richard Mosley, is a UFCW Local 152 member at Catelli Brothers in Camden, New Jersey.

 


 

2020 Irv R. String Scholarship Winner Jessica Rodriguez JESSICA RODRIGUEZ

Jessica Rodriguez is a 2020 graduate of Camden Academy Charter High School and will be attending Rowan University where she will study sports management with a concentration in Math. Her future goals consist of becoming a sports statistician for an NBA team.  Jessica participated in the National Honor Society, Beta Club and the Boys and Girls Club.  She was also the Vice President of the Class of 2020 and the captain of the varsity basketball team.  She also volunteers in breast cancer walks, local food kitchens and at the Boys and Girls Club.  Her mother, Isidra Rodriguez, is a UFCW Local 152 member at J & J Snack Foods.

 


 

2020 Irv R. String Scholarship Winner Caitlin RuthCAITLIN RUTH

Caitlin Ruth is a 2020 graduate of Conrad Weiser High School.  She plans on attending college and pursuing a career in the medical field.  She plans on majoring in Nursing and Communication Sciences and Disorders.  Caitlin participated in several clubs including Aevidum, Junior Classical League, Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, and FFA.  She also volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters, N.E.E.D. Camp, Wernersville Library, and Mini-THON.  Her father, Chad Ruth, is a UFCW Local 152 member at Berks Packing in Pennsylvania.

2020 Irv R. String Scholarship Merit Award Winner Robert Frankenfield

 

ROBERT FRANKENFIELD is currently attending Kutztown University and majoring in Elementary Education and Special Education.  He hopes to get into an elementary school that is in a good district to help him obtain a Masters Degree and possibly getting his Masters Degree in Student Affairs and working at the university.  His mother, Dawn Cassel, is a UFCW Local 152 member at Acme Markets.

 


2020 Irv R. String Scholarship Merit Award Winner Alena Gallaro

 

ALENA GALLARO is a 2020 graduate of Southern Regional School District.  She plans on attending Eastern Gateway College and then Ocean County College and is interested in a career in business and criminal justice.  Alena is a member of UFCW Local 152 at ShopRite.

 


JORDYN HARRIS is a 2020 graduate of the Atlantic County Institute of Technology.  She plans on attending Atlantic Cape Community College and then attending a nursing program to obtain a career in nursing.  She hopes to become a certified registered nurse anesthetist.  Jordyn is a member of UFCW Local 152 at ShopRite.


2020 Irv R. String Scholarship Merit Award Winner Allyson Lehman

 

ALLYSON LEHMAN is a 2020 graduate of York County School of Technology.  She plans on attending Harrisburg Area Community College to obtain a career as a Cardiovascular Technologist.  Her father, Eric Lehman, is a UFCW Local 152 member at Kunzler.

 


DAVID SAMAYOA is currently attending Ramapo College and studying business and has a double major in finance and accounting.  He plans on working for a Fortune 500 company when he graduates and one day becoming the CFO of a large multinational corporation.  His father, Freddy Samayoa, is a UFCW Local 152 member at Johanna Foods.


NICOLE WRIGHT is a 2020 graduate of Cape May County Technical High School and is planning on attending Rowan University.  She plans on majoring in Biomedical Engineering and would like to participate in the building of prosthetics.  Her mother, Kathryn Wright, is a member of UFCW Local 152 at Cape Regional Medical Center.
