Members at United Methodist Communities at Bristol Glen Overwhelmingly Vote to Ratify New Contract – 12/16/2020

On Wednesday, December 16th, UFCW Local 152 members at United Methodist Communities at Bristol Glen in Newton, New Jersey stood united to ratifiy a new contract in the midst of a storm that delivered a whopping 22 inches of snow! The vote was passed with an impressive 67-1.

The new three-year agreement provides a retroactive across-the-board wage increase, in addition to increases each year for the life of the contract. Furthermore, members will now have a reduction in the percentage of healthcare coverage copayments. In an effort to reward longtime members for their service, the contract introduces a long-requested, tiered longevity increase program. Finally, all members will receive a contract ratification bonus.

In addition to these economic improvements, members will also see enhancements in other areas. The contract reinforces that the Employer pays the cost of any mandatory health examinations, tests, and vaccinations, in addition to increasing the yearly shoe allowance. This new contract includes language changes for better clarification of policies regarding the New Jersey Earned Sick Leave for the use of sick time at no penalty to the member, and maintained affordable health insurance for the life of the agreement. Last but certainly not least, we are proud to say that the Physical Thearpy Department is now part of the barganing unit!
